The rules of the game, in plain words

Effective 16 October 2026.

These terms are between you and Techbeaver IT Systems Ltd ("we"), and cover the Àlọ́ app and this website. By playing, you agree to them. If you do not, please do not use the app.

Playing

We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to play Àlọ́ on devices you own. The game, its boards, art, stories, narration, sounds and names belong to us or to the people who licensed them to us. You may not copy the app, sell it, reverse-engineer it beyond what the law allows, or use it to harm other players or our service. The African scripts on the tiles belong to the peoples who use them; we show them with respect and say where each one comes from.

Age

Àlọ́ is made for players aged 13 and up.

Your account

The app creates an anonymous account the first time it opens. You may link Sign in with Apple, Google, or an email address and password to keep your progress across phones. You are responsible for what happens on your account. One person, one account on the leaderboards.

Names

Your display name is shown to other players. Choose one that is not abusive, misleading, or someone else's. We may change or reset a name that breaks this rule.

Fair play

Every board you clear is replayed on our server and counts only if it checks out. Results from modified apps, automation or exploits are removed, and we may close the account that sent them.

Stories

The folktales are retold in our own words from published sources, which the app lists with each story. They are offered as stories, not as history or as anyone's sacred teaching. If you think a story is wrong or disrespectful, tell us through [email protected].

Availability

We work to keep the game and its leaderboards running, but they are provided "as is". We may change, pause or stop features, boards, stories or the service, and we may close accounts that break these terms.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from the game, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits rights that the law gives you as a consumer.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms; the date above will change and the app will tell you if the change matters. These terms are governed by the laws of the country in which Techbeaver IT Systems Ltd is established, without affecting your consumer rights where you live. Questions go to [email protected].
